Transport

I got my start at Bungy over 20 years ago. I remember sitting in the pub thinking about how I was sick of working in rafting and my old manager Tony asked what I had planned for work that Summer. Next thing I knew it, I was hired as a bus driver and raftie working across our sites in Queenstown.

A few years later I had progressed in my role to become a site controller at the Nevis, and I also started helping out with maintenance… That was back in the early days of Bungy when it was common for everyone to wear many hats. Working on machines and fixing things always interested me. I enjoyed getting stuck in and learning how things worked. I did that for about 5 years until I was promoted to the role of Health and Safety Coordinator. I filled that role while still being acting as the manager of operations Crew and maintenance. You could say I’ve done it all!

In 2018 my role changed again and I became the Activity Operations and Technical Manager, meaning I was responsible for all systems and compliance at a national level. Around this time I also took over the maintenance of the transport fleet.

Now my role has evolved once again, and I’m the Activity and Vehicle Manager. My job is to ensure that all of the maintenance is undertaken for all of our experiences, transport fleet, buildings, etc. This includes preventative maintenance, and inspections of amusement device rides under the code set out by the government. It’s my job to make sure that everything is compliant (from building WOFs to the Bungy Code of Practice, Passenger Roadways Codes, etc.) so that all customer and Crew touchpoints are fit for purpose.

I love the variety of his job, every day is different. I’ve also found Bungy to be a unique workplace: I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in the creation and development of lots of innovative and technical advancements made over the years. Bungy started out as pioneers, and the pioneering mindset is very much still at the heart of what we do today. I love dreaming up new ideas behind the scenes.

At its core, my job is a mandate to always do better: How can we implement efficiencies so we can deliver our experience better and better? At the end of the day I love watching our customers Live More and Fear Less, and I feel an immense responsibility to ensure my team and I do all the important work behind the scenes so this can happen.
