Auckland Sky Tower Experiences.
At 328 metres, the Auckland Sky Tower is the tallest structure in New Zealand and the most recognisable landmark on the city's skyline. From the observation deck at 192 metres - 53 floors up - AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand operates three unique experiences: SkyRide, SkyWalk and SkyJump.
The Sky Tower is Auckland's ultimate vantage point - and AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand has three ways to experience it. Whether you want to jump off it, walk around the outside of it, or simply take in the view, all three experiences operate from the same location.
The Auckland Sky Tower opened in 1997 and stands 328 metres tall, making it the tallest structure in New Zealand and one of the tallest in the Southern Hemisphere. It was built as a telecommunications tower and observation platform, and it remains the most visible landmark on the Auckland skyline - visible from up to 80 kilometres away on a clear day.
The observation deck sits at 192 metres - the equivalent of 53 floors. From here, the views extend across the Waitematā Harbour to the Hauraki Gulf, north to the Coromandel Peninsula, west to the Waitākere Ranges, and south across the full spread of Auckland's suburbs.
AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand has operated at the Sky Tower since the early 2000s, bringing the same safety standards and operational expertise from the world's first commercial bungy site in Queenstown to New Zealand's most iconic urban landmark. SkyJump and SkyWalk are both operated from the 192-metre level, using custom-engineered equipment designed specifically for the tower.

AJ Hackett operates three experiences at Auckland Sky Tower, all from the 192-metre observation level. SkyJump is a controlled freefall 53 floors down at 85kph. SkyWalk (from $245 adult) is a guided walk around the outside rim of the tower with no handrail. SkyRide is a lift and descent ride, recently launched in June 2026.
SkyJump is a jump - you step off the observation deck at 192 metres in a flying suit and freefall 53 floors at 85kph on a wire, landing in SKYCITY Plaza in about 11 seconds. SkyWalk is a guided walk around the 1.2-metre-wide exterior rim at the same height, with no handrail. SkyJump takes about 45 minutes including briefing; SkyWalk also takes about 45 minutes. Both include photos and video. You can combine them in a single booking for $445, saving $100.
SkyJump operates from the observation deck of the Auckland Sky Tower at 192 metres above street level - the equivalent of 53 floors. You descend at a controlled 85kph and the freefall takes approximately 11 seconds, landing in SKYCITY Plaza below the tower.
Yes - friends and family can watch SkyRide and SkyJump landings from SKYCITY Plaza at street level at no charge. It's one of the best free things to watch in central Auckland. SkyWalk doesn't have a dedicated spectator area, though the exterior walk is visible from various points around the tower.
SkyRide, SkyJump and SkyWalk may be delayed or rescheduled if winds exceed 70kph for extended periods. If conditions change on the day, the team will contact you to discuss options. If you're concerned about weather, call 0800 759 925 before heading in.
The Auckland Sky Tower is on Federal Street in the Auckland CBD, within the SKYCITY complex. It's walkable from most central city hotels - about 10-15 minutes from Britomart. Paid parking is available at the SkyCity Car Park on Federal Street. InnerLink and CityLink buses stop on Victoria Street and Wellesley Street nearby.
Minimum age for all experiences is 10 years. Participants under 15 require a parent or guardian to sign consent at check-in. There is no upper age limit. All AJ Hackett experiences are free for participants aged 75 and over.
SkyRide uses a wire descent system - not a pure freefall. You are connected to a controlled descent mechanism throughout the experience. AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand has operated at the Sky Tower for over 20 years with an exceptional safety record. Equipment is inspected daily and all guides are trained in-house to standards that exceed New Zealand's adventure activity regulations. Full safety and medical information is at bungy.co.nz/safety.
