SkyRide is Auckland’s newest adrenaline experience, launching at the SkyTower in June 2026. The ride lifts you 192 metres above the city before sending you into a fast, scenic descent down the tower. Ride solo or tandem, this ride is the perfect accessible adventure, great for groups, and those not ready to jump.

It’s no secret we Kiwis have an adventurous spirit. It is this energy that’s led us to bungy jump from the Sky Tower and sky walk the Sky Tower; now we’re going to Skyride it!

The Sky Tower is not only Auckland’s most iconic landmark, but also the ultimate urban adventure hub.

Launched in June 2026, the brand-new SkyRide is officially joining the adventure line-up at AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand.

It might just be the perfect middle ground between “absolutely not” and “send me off the tallest platform possible.”

Think height, speed, and glorious views. A rush of adrenaline, without having to throw yourself headfirst off a platform.

For anyone who’s ever watched friends bungy jump while quietly thinking “I’d love a piece of that,” the SkyRide is your moment.

As pioneers of the world’s first commercial bungy, we have always pushed boundaries.

“SkyRide is a world-first for the height it reaches, further cementing AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand’s place as global leaders in gravity-defying experiences.” Explained, Henry Van Asch, co-founder and managing director, AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand.

SkyRide at Sky Tower

So… What actually is the SkyRide?

Imagine soaring high above Auckland with the city stretched out around you, wind rushing past your face, stomach flipping in the best possible way, and your brain rapidly switching between “This is amazing,” and “Why is this so fun?”

That’s the SkyRide adventure.

This brand-new experience lifts you 192 metres into the air faster than the Sky Tower’s internal lifts before launching you back down the side in one epic descent.

Designed to deliver all the excitement and panoramic views you’d expect from an AJ Hackett experience, SkyRide is built to feel thrilling and exhilarating – the perfect way to launch yourself into the world of adventure.

In other words, less “Where do I even begin?” and more “Oh wow, this is FUN!” and once you’ve caught the bug, who knows what’s next.

It’s the perfect option for families or the “almost-adrenaline” people

The SkyRide is ideal for:

  • People who want excitement without a full leap
  • First-time adventure seekers
  • Families and groups with mixed bravery levels
  • People working their way up to a bungy
  • Friends who said they’d “totally jump” and are now suspiciously quiet in the queue

You can ride solo or tandem, meaning everyone can experience the rush together (without one brave friend having to carry the entire group’s sense of adventure).

And importantly, it makes high-adrenaline fun feel more accessible.

Not everyone wants to swan dive off a bridge on day one. Some people want to dip their toes into the world of adventure first.

So… What does the SkyRide feel like?

Like your stomach forgot gravity for a second. There’s that moment where the ride begins, and your body immediately realises… Ah, yes. We are moving down the side of the SkyTower.

You’ll laugh. You’ll scream. You’ll probably do both at the same time. And somewhere in the middle of it all, you’ll catch yourself looking out over Auckland thinking: Okay… this is actually incredible.

Afterward, you may just experience some of the magic we see every day when our customers face their fears and step into the rush. Maartje described it as: “I feel powerful. King of the world!”

Now, what should one wear to glide down the side of the SkyTower? Great question.

Good news, no specialised adventure uniform required. Just come dressed comfortably and ready to move around. A few easy tips:

  • Wear closed-toe shoes
  • Bring layers if Auckland decides to do four seasons in one afternoon
  • Avoid loose accessories you don’t want flying dramatically into the distance
  • Wear something you’re comfortable in, laughing, screaming, and taking photos in.

And yes, there will absolutely be social-media-worthy moments.

Now, you might be wondering: “Okay… but what if I get addicted to the adrenaline?”

Fair question.

So naturally, the next thing you’ll want to know is: can you pair SkyRide with other AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand experiences?

Absolutely.

Whether SkyRide awakens a sudden desire to throw yourself into a bungy jump, or you’ve got a group with very different comfort levels when it comes to adventure, it pairs perfectly with the rest of Auckland’s adrenaline line-up.

The hardest part might be deciding whether one ride is enough. (Spoiler: it probably won’t be.)

The SkyRide launches in June 2026, meaning Auckland’s newest adrenaline experience is almost ready to fly.

So whether you’re an adrenaline junkie, a “maybe-I’ll-start-small” adventurer, or simply someone looking for a ridiculously fun day out with friends…

This is your sign. Be one of the first to ride it.

From today until the end of July we are offering SkyRide AND SkyJump at 40% off to all customers – so the price is $198 for either activity

Sold. Right, so how do you book?

Bookings for the SkyRide open ahead of the official launch in June, and if history is any guide, the first spots are likely to disappear quickly.
